What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that work to restore or enhance facial volume. Fillers help create a more youthful, rounded facial contouring.

During youth, a thick layer of collagen creates a soft, padded effect in your skin. As the years pass, you naturally lose some of that padding, leaving your skin to sag and pool into lines, folds, and wrinkles.

How do dermal fillers work?

Most dermal fillers are formulated from a synthetic type of hyaluronic acid, a substance your body creates naturally. This substance has a thick, gel-like consistency that creates a smooth finish when injected into the deeper layers of your skin.

Not only do dermal fillers create an immediate plumping effect, but they also stimulate your body to produce its own new collagen and elastin. This means the effects of your filler treatments extend long after your body naturally absorbs the filler material.

How do I know which dermal fillers are right for me?

There are numerous different fillers to choose from. Each is formulated for specific uses. In general, thicker fillers enhance volume in large areas of the face, like the cheeks, or smooth out deep folds.
